Dear , thanks for your interest in Afaranwide.

Blogging postTen Things We Learned Making Our Website: We've reached the halfway point in our step-by-step post about creating a blog. We’re releasing it in 10 bite-size parts, and it continues next week with a new section appearing each day from Monday to Friday. This, our first series, wraps up everything we’ve learned, what it cost, the mistakes we made... Basically, it’s the guide we wish we’d had when we started out, and we hope it helps anyone who wants to set up a website from scratch.

ArtworkYoung Artists Paint Their Own Journeys: We’re keen to create a community around Afaranwide by involving others. We’ve made a first step towards this by publishing a guest post featuring paintings by schoolchildren on the theme of “journey”. As older travellers, we were intrigued by their work!

Pebble BeachVisiting Pebble Beach: This famous course in California is the centre of the golf universe this weekend as it hosts the US Open for the sixth time. But what's it like to visit? Afaranwide stopped off to have a look.

Elephant standElephant standHong Kong International Travel Expo: Colin attended this four-day event for the trade and public, which continues until Sunday. Exhibitors tend to flock to shows like this in Hong Kong to attract visitors from adjoining mainland China, where the tourism industry is booming. Countries represented included Argentina, Botswana, Ecuador, Croatia, Cyprus, Iran, Madagascar, Pakistan and the US territory of Guam. There was a large contingent from Japan and other Asian countries. Colin is photographed at the stand of Thailand's Ran-Tong elephant centre, which cares for animals that have been mistreated in the logging industry and circuses. Aberdeen dragon boatsDragon Boat Festival: We’ve updated our Hong Kong dragon boat post with photos from the towns of Stanley and Aberdeen. The three-day dragon boat carnival in Victoria Harbour that we planned to cover live over the weekend has been cancelled.

Pink dolphinsDolphin Watching Hong Kong-Style: As well as the second half of our blogging series next week, we’ll be publishing a piece on Hong Kong’s fabulous pink dolphins.
