Afaranwide

NEWSLETTER 4, May 18 2019

Dear , thanks for your interest in Afaranwide.

This week we published two posts describing day trips to remote but very different islands.Praslin, SeychellesOne was about Afaranwide’s day wandering through the unique prehistoric forest on the island of Praslin in the Seychelles. Turquoise seas, sunshine, white sand beaches, and the timeless beauty of a forest that’s almost untouched since dinosaurs roamed the area. Someone had to do it, so Sue did.
The other was about a visit to the Scottish islands of St Kilda, where hardy people lived for thousands of years before the remaining islanders finally gave in to the harsh conditions and asked to be evacuated. Afaranwide travelled there, wandered through the abandoned village and was attacked by aggressive seabirds protecting their eggs.

We’ve received more positive comments on social media.

Marie-Laure Marsh said on Facebook:

”So enjoying piggybacking on your amazing travels... Can’t wait for more.”

And Helen McGiveron, commenting on Facebook about the St Kilda post, said:

“Superb – something I knew nothing about and should have.”

Thank you Marie-Laure and Helen.

Our posts marking the 50th anniversary of the QE2’s maiden voyage have been well received by fans of the iconic ocean liner. A piece on the closed Facebook group QE2 Hotel Dubai featuring written items related to her final voyage was viewed by more than 1,000 people, while 500 more saw the items on another closed group, the QE2 Appreciation Society.

Next week we visit a place where a golf buggy costs more than a Ferrari!
